This Privacy Policy explains what personal information With Sakhi collects when you visit withsakhi.com or book a trek with us, why we collect it, and what choices you have. We only ask for information we actually need to run a safe trek and to answer your enquiries.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Booking and enquiry details: name, age, mobile number, email address, boarding point, number of participants and your emergency contact.
- Health information: any medical condition, allergy, injury or medication you disclose so that our trek leaders can keep you safe. This is sensitive information and we treat it as such.
- Messages: what you send us through the contact form, WhatsApp, email or social media.
- Newsletter sign-ups: your email address, if you choose to subscribe.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring page and time of visit, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
- Analytics: we use Google Analytics and Google Search Console to understand how the site is used, and Microsoft Clarity, which records anonymised interactions such as clicks and scrolling to show us where pages are confusing. These tools set their own cookies and are governed by their own privacy policies.
- Hosting and security: our host keeps standard server logs to operate and protect the site.
2. How we use your information
- To confirm and manage your booking, and to send trek details, pickup timings and updates.
- To reach you or your emergency contact during a trek if needed.
- To plan for medical or dietary requirements you have told us about.
- To answer enquiries and provide customer support.
- To send trek announcements and newsletters, if you have subscribed. Every such email has an unsubscribe link.
- To improve the website and our trek planning.
- To meet legal, tax or forest and monument permit requirements.
3. Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only where it is needed to deliver a trek or run the site:
- Trek partners — transport operators, base-village hosts and local guides receive only what they need, such as participant names and counts.
- Authorities — forest departments, the Archaeological Survey of India and local police, where a permit or entry register requires participant details.
- Service providers — our web host, email and analytics providers, and our newsletter platform (Mailchimp), who process data on our behalf.
- Law — where we are legally required to disclose information.
Some of these providers are located outside India, which means your information may be processed abroad under their own safeguards.
4. Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them to keep the site working correctly, remember your preferences, and measure how the site is used through the analytics tools listed above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the site, such as the booking form, may not work properly if you do.
5. Embedded content
Some pages include content from other services — Instagram posts, YouTube videos, Google Maps and social media feeds. Those services can collect data about you exactly as if you had visited them directly, and their own privacy policies apply.
6. How long we keep it
Booking records are kept for as long as needed to run the trek and to meet our accounting and legal obligations. Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are kept only as long as they are useful for follow-up. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Health information you share for a trek is used for that trek and is not kept longer than needed.
7. Your choices
- Access and correction: ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
- Deletion: ask us to delete your information, except where we must keep it for legal or accounting reasons.
- Unsubscribe: use the link in any newsletter, or write to us.
- Photographs: tell the trek leader in writing before a trek if you do not want your photographs used in our promotional material.

8. Children
Participants under 18 must be booked by a parent or guardian, who provides their details and consents to this policy on their behalf. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children.
9. Security
The site is served over HTTPS and we take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The revised version will always be published on this page with a new “last updated” date.
