About the fort

Karnala watched over the Bor Ghat trade route and passed through Gujarat Sultanate, Portuguese, Maratha and finally British hands. The pinnacle at the top, locally called the Pandu's Tower, is visible from the Mumbai-Goa highway.

What the trek is like

A well-made forest path inside the sanctuary, climbing steadily to the base of the pinnacle. The final stretch to the fort walls is a short rocky scramble; the pinnacle itself is not climbed.
